NPP FLAGBEARER RACE BEGINS.




 

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has set January 31, 2026, for its presidential primaries, and many party members are now stepping forward to compete for the flagbearer role. Rumors have been circulating for a while, but the announcement by the party's General Secretary has sparked clear interest among potential candidates.

Some key figures in this race include former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who performed very well in the last primaries, and Kennedy Agyapong, known for his bold speeches and strong stance against corruption. Another contestant, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, a former Education Minister and current MP for Bosomtwe, officially announced his intention to run, saying he is ready to serve his party and the country. In addition, Dr. Bryan Acheampong is testing the waters by forming a committee to see if he has enough grassroots support for a bid. Lastly, ex-General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, though not yet officially in the race, is still considered a potential contender. As the party prepares for its delegates' conference in July, supporters and observers alike are watching closely to see who will emerge as the top candidate.
